October Food Festivals In Somerset

The county of somerset in south-west england is celebrating the wealth and breadth of its food and drink this autumn with three festivals:
· south somerset food festival (october 1-9) comprises over 40 events highlighting the variety of fresh local produce available in this rural area, including tastings, tours and farm walks.
· exmoor food festival (october 7-16) will include an open day at hindon organic farm, an indian cookery demonstration, bread making and safari suppers all based around the stunning landscapes of exmoor national park.
· mendip food & drink festival (october 21-30) encompasses the five mendip towns of shepton mallet, frome, wells, glastonbury and street and involves restaurants and hotels offering special menus focussing on local produce.
somerset is the home of cheddar cheese, still produced in the mendip hills and plentiful apple orchards which, for centuries, have delighted visitors with their intoxicating cider. for further information, tel: 01934 750833.
